Yesterday Dan Evans, a stocky, cheeky tennis player from Birmingham (UK) was up against Bernard Tomic, the last remaining Australian in the Australian Open.
Evans showed guts, street smarts and an astonishing will to win against his opponent and the partisan crowd. It was such an emotional roller coaster that the crowd will now be with him because he is creating the sort of magic that impossible dreams are made of.
Later came the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States. There was the pomp of tradition, a celebration of the latest peaceful transition between elected presidents. Choirs sang as the military band played, prayers and speeches were about unity.
But then came Trump’s inaugural speech … divisive, ungracious, unrepentant, simplistic, arrogant, distasteful …
I say to both: GO!
